PPR Press Release The Mamas & The Papas California Dreamin' - The Songs Of The Mamas & The Papas Out now on Universal DVD (Cat no. B000421809) |
California Dreamin' - The Songs of The Mamas & The Papas celebrates the 40th anniversary of the harmonious pop-rock group and the 1965 release of their first record (California Dreamin'), spotlighting a wealth of classic television performances that have been buried for over thirty-five years, including a previously unreleased song. Along with their greatest hits (including 'Monday, Monday,' 'Dedicated To The One I Love,' 'Words Of Love,' 'Dream A Little Dream Of Me,' 'Dancing In The Streets'), new and never-before-seen interviews with group members Michelle Phillips, Denny Doherty and John Phillips are included, plus remembrances by legendary producer Lou Adler and musicians John Sebastian, Barry McGuire and Chynna Phillips. In addition, rare home movies are featured and a performance from the historic Monterey Pop Festival. Dubbed "The Royal Family of Pop,” some of the most famous and timeless sounds of the '60s are those created by The Mamas & Papas. The trend-setting foursome made a tremendous impact on the music world, bridging the generation gap with their unique vocal magic. Although "Mama" Cass Elliot died tragically of heart failure in 1974 and John Phillips passed away in 2001, their beloved music lives on. The immortal group was included into the Rock 'n' Roll Hall of Fame in 1998. |
